WASHINGTON, D.C. – Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu is fond of golf and in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News at the National Press Club said he was willing to give President Donald Trump “three shots” if they had a game someday.
“I love playing golf,” Çavuşoğlu told Breitbart News. “My handicap is 12,” he said. “Not as good as President Trump’s,” he pointed out. Trump is reported to have a 3.7 handicap. “Still,” Çavuşoğlu joked, “I am ready to give three shots to him if we play one day.”
Both Trump and Çavuşoğlu have played golf with Tiger Woods.
Antalya, Turkey, Çavuşoğlu’s hometown, is known to have some of the country’s most beautiful golf courses.
Asked if he’s ever been to Mar-a-Lago, Çavuşoğlu said, “No, unfortunately.” He said he was in Florida last September and was planning to play there but couldn’t due to inclement weather. “I was planning to play there, but there was a thunderstorm,” he said. “I was there to open my consulate, officially, and I was planning to play there but because of the thunderstorm, I couldn’t play. But next time. Next time I will,” he said.
