Oct. 29 (UPI) — Abbott Elementary star Janelle James will host the 2027 Critics Choice Awards.

James, 47, who plays Ava Coleman on the hit ABC series, will host the 32nd annual awards show Jan. 3, 2027, at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.

The Critics Choice Awards, presented by the American Critics Choice Association, honor the best in film, television and streaming.

James herself is a Critics Choice Award winner and Emmy nominee for her work on Abbott Elementary, which returned for a sixth season earlier this month.

She will also star in her first Netflix stand-up comedy special, Janelle James: How Romantic, releasing Nov. 10.

“For over three decades, the Critics Choice Awards have been the place where the conversation about the year’s best work really takes off — and who better to host a show about the best of TV and film than one of the very best in the business?” CCA CEO Joey Berlin said in a press release. “We are so honored to have the incredible Janelle James join us to host this year’s Critics Choice Awards.”
