Sept. 28 (UPI) — Luxury automaker Aston Martin has partnered with Triton Submarines to create a design for its first submarine, the companies announced Thursday.

The concept design aims to lead to the development of a limited edition three-person vessel.

Unveiled at the Monaco yacht show, the project, code-named Project Neptune, is a blend of Triton’s diving and underwater operational expertise with the sleek design of an Aston Martin vehicle.

Aston Martin is a British luxury sports car company and Triton Submarines of Vero Beach, Fla., is a top civil submarine manufacturer.

“Project Neptune is defined by its sleek, elegant exterior,” Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s executive vice president and chief creative officer, said in a press release. “We have used forms and proportions that express the same devotion to design, engineering and beauty that shape our cars, such as the Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar project.”
