June 9 (UPI) — 20th Century Studios is giving a glimpse of the new film Whalefall.

The studio shared a teaser trailer for the movie Tuesday featuring Austin Abrams and Josh Brolin.

Whalefall is a survival thriller based on the Daniel Kraus novel. Abrams plays Jay, a young man who is swallowed by a sperm whale while scuba diving to search for his father’s remains.

The teaser features a flashback of a tense moment between Jay and his father Mitt (Josh Brolin) and another memory where Mitt tells his son, “You can be anything you want.”

The scene then changes to the terrifying moment when Jay gets tangled while diving and swallowed by the whale.

“While trapped inside its belly with only one hour of oxygen left, Jay comes to realize that the hard-earned lessons his father imparted may be the key to his escape,” an official synopsis reads.

Whalefall opens in theaters Oct. 16.

Abrams is known for playing Ron Anderson on The Walking Dead, Ethan Daley on Euphoria and Dash on Dash & Lily. He will also star in the upcoming Resident Evil film from Barbarian director Zach Cregger.

Brolin can also be seen in The Dog Stars, a post-apocalyptic thriller based on the Peter Heller novel.
