June 1 (UPI) — The Cleveland Browns agreed to trade two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for linebacker Jared Verse and three draft picks, a league source told UPI on Monday.
The Rams will send the Browns a first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, a second-round pick in 2028 and a third-round pick in 2029 in exchange for Garrett.
Garrett, 30, signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension with the Browns in 2025. He is under contract through 2030. Verse, 25, is entering the third year of his four-year rookie contract. The No. 19 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft has a team option in 2028.
Garrett set the NFL single-season record for sacks with 23 over 17 starts last season for the Browns. His 125.5 career sacks rank third among active players and are the 20th most since the statistic became official in 1982. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and five-time first-team All-Pro.
Garrett also led the NFL with 55 tackles for a loss over the last two seasons. He totaled 412 combined tackles, 23 forced fumbles, 18 passes defensed, six fumble recoveries and a fumble return for a touchdown over the first 134 appearances of his NFL career.
Verse, the 2024 Defensive Rookie of the Year, made the Pro Bowl in each of his first two seasons. He totaled 124 combined tackles, 22 tackles for a loss, 12 sacks, five forced fumbles, three passes defensed and two fumble recoveries over his first 34 games.
The Browns will hold their final organized team activity sessions from Tuesday through Friday and mandatory minicamp June 9 to 11. The Rams will hold organized team activities Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, June 8, 9 and 11. Rams players will participate in mandatory minicamp June 15 and 16.
