April 20 (UPI) — Celebrity couples stepped out to celebrate scientists at this year’s Breakthrough Prize ceremony.

Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine and model Behati Prinsloo, singer Christina Aguilera and Matthew Rutler, actress Zoe Saldana and Marco Perego, and socialite Paris Hilton and Carter Reum walked the red carpet Saturday in Santa Monica, Calif.

Actor Robert Downey Jr. and producer Susan Downey, actress Salma Hayek and businessman Francois-Henri Pinault, model Miranda Kerr and Reddit co-founder Evan Spiegel, and actors Naomi Watts and Billy Crudup were also in attendance.

Solo celebs included actors Ben Affleck, Orlando Bloom and Oscar Isaac, actresses Anne Hathaway, Olivia Wilde, Michelle Yeoh, Gal Gadot and Lily Collins, and model Gigi Hadid.

The Breakthrough Prize awards honor scientists and their achievements. Six of the prizes award $3 million each, with another $750,000 spread across nine other prizes.

Honorees included Jean Bennett, Katherine A. High and Albert Maguire, who received the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences for their contributions to the first FDA-approved gene replacement therapy, and Frank Merle, who received the Breakthrough Prize in Mathematics for his work with nonlinear evolution equations.
