Oct. 8 (UPI) — HBO announced Thursday that it has ordered a Crazy Rich Asians sequel series. The series will be eight hour-long episodes.

Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh and Ronny Chieng are confirmed to return in a sequel to the film. Wu and Golding’s characters got engaged at the end of the film. Yeoh played his mother and Chieng played his cousin.

Adele Lim will showrun and executive produce the series. Lim co-wrote the movie adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s book with Peter Chiarelli.

Kwan is also an executive producer with Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson who produced the film, and Jon M. Chu who directed the film.

Lim called the sequel series “a Crazy Rich family reunion” in a statement. Kwan wrote two sequels but the announcement did not confirm which elements from China Rich Girlfriend or Rich People Problems would be included.

An announcement video confirms production will begin next year.
