May 15 (UPI) — Emma Raducanu rehired coach Andrew Richardson, who helped her win her lone Grand Slam singles title at the 2021 U.S. Open, she announced Friday.
Raducanu and Richardson split just weeks after her win over Canada’s Leylah Fernandez in the finale of the 2021 U.S. Open. She hasn’t advanced past the third round in 13 Grand Slam appearances since that title run.
“Grateful to have reconnected with someone who has known me for over a decade now and looking forward to building together one iteration at a time,” Raducanu said in a statement.
After her split with Richardson, Raducanu went worked with coaches Torben Beltz, Dmsitry Tursunov, Sebastian Sachs, Nick Cavaday, Francisco Roig, and Mark Petchey, among others.
Raducanu advanced to the second round of the 2026 Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season. She reached the third round of three of four Grand Slams in 2025.
The 23-year-old sits at No. 30 in the WTA Tour singles rankings.
The 2026 French Open, the second Grand Slam of the season, will be May 24 to June 7 in Paris. Raducanu lost in the second round in each of her two appearances at Roland Garros, including last year.
She is on track to play in the Internationaux de Strasbourg, ending a hiatus of more than two months, in Strasbourg, France. The WTA 500 tournament, a clay-court tune-up for Roland Garros, will be Sunday through May 23.
