Washington (AFP) – Exaggerator upset pre-race favorite Nyquist to claim victory at a rain-soaked 141st Preakness on Saturday.
Previously unbeaten Nyquist had been targeting a possible Triple Crown tilt after victory in the Kentucky Derby earlier this month.
But second-favorite Exaggerator — beaten four times in four previous races against Nyquist — timed his run to perfection, bursting clear on the home straight to take the line.
