MIAMI, Oct. 5 (UPI) — Stefon Diggs, Terry McLaurin, Davante Adams, Cooper Kupp and Tyler Lockett top my Week 5 fantasy football wide receiver rankings for 2021.
Chris Godwin, Justin Jefferson, Tyreek Hill, Diontae Johnson and Calvin Ridley round out my Top 10 options for Week 5. Deebo Samuel, Marvin Jones, DeVante Parker and Hunter Renfrow are among my other favorite wide receivers to start this week.
Target players who have a good chance to score a touchdown and get a lot of looks from their respective quarterbacks when considering who to start at wide receiver.
Here are some of my favorite players in this week’s rankings:
TOP SHELF
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs lands at No. 1 in my Week 5 rankings. Diggs went off for a season-high 114 yards in Week 4. This week, the Bills face the Kansas City Chiefs in what should be a shootout.
The Chiefs allowed the 12th most fantasy points to wide receivers through the first four weeks of the season. They allowed 387 yards and two scores to Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts in Week 4.
Look for Bills quarterback Josh Allen to throw for at least 300 yards this week and use Diggs as his top target. I expect more than 100 yards and a score from Diggs in this matchup.
Terry McLaurin of the Washington Football Team is averaging the seventh-most fantasy points per game amongst wide receivers. He erupted for 123 yards and two scores in Week 4. This week, Washington battles the New Orleans Saints.
The Saints allowed the sixth-most receiving yards to wide receivers through the first four games. They also just allowed 402 passing yards and two touchdowns to New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones in Week 4.
McLaurin is my No. 2 wide receiver for Week 5. Look for at least 100 yards and a score from the Washington playmaker.
SNEAKY PLAYS
Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers leads the NFL with 490 receiving yards. He is my No. 13 wide receiver for Week 5.
Samuel, the No. 3 wide receiver in fantasy football, totaled 156 yards and two scores on eight catches in Week 4. He received at least 10 targets in three of his first four starts.
I expect the 49ers wide receiver to continue his breakout season in Week 5, when the 49ers face the Arizona Cardinals.
The Cardinals allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to wide receivers through four weeks. Look for 49ers rookie quarterback Trey Lance to start this game and use Samuel as his primary target.
Marvin Jones of the Jacksonville Jaguars should see more looks in Week 5 due to the recent injury to fellow wide receiver D.J. Chark.
Jones scored touchdowns in each of his first two games this season. I expect him to return to the end zone in Week 5, when the Jaguars face the Tennessee Titans.
The Titans allowed a league-high 944 receiving yards and eight scores to wide receivers through the first four weeks. They also allowed the most fantasy points to the position.
The Titans allowed touchdowns to New York Jets wide receivers Corey Davis and Jamison Crowder in Week 4.
I expect Jones to find the end zone in a shootout between the Jaguars and Titans on Sunday in Jacksonville, Fla. He is my No. 20 option and can be used this week as a low-end WR2 or a WR3 in leagues with at least 14 teams.
LONGSHOTS
The Miami Dolphins offense is underwhelming so far this season, but their wide receivers should provide fantasy football value in Week 5 when they face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Buccaneers are known for their smothering rush defense, which should result in more pass attempts for the Dolphins.
Parker totaled 77 yards and a score on four catches in the Dolphins’ Week 4 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He should post similar statistics this week.
Look for Parker and rookie wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to get a ton of targets from Dolphins quarterback Jacoby Brissett on Sunday in Tampa, Fla.
The Buccaneers allowed the most receptions and second-most fantasy points to wide receivers through the first four weeks.
Parker is a touchdown-or-bust play, but is a decent option this week if you are in a league with at least 14 teams and need help at wide receiver. He is my No. 24 option.
Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Hunter Renfrow is my No. 29 option. Renfrow enters Week 5 with a score in each of his last two games. He logged at least five catches in each of his first four games.
He faces the Chicago Bears on Sunday in Paradise, Nev.
The Bears are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to wide receivers. They also just allowed 299 yards and two scores in Week 4 to Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff.
Look for Derek Carr to expose this secondary and target Renfrow at least 10 times. I expect eight catches for 80 yards and a score from the Raiders wide receiver.
Renfrow can be used as a low-end WR3 in leagues with at least 14 teams, but is more valuable in points-per-reception scoring.
