Dec. 7 (UPI) — Former Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze has agreed to become the next coach at Liberty.

Sources informed ESPN and The Athletic of the move on Friday. Liberty coach Turner Gill retired on Monday after seven seasons. He posted a 47-35 record with the Flames.

A source told The Athletic that Freeze will get a five-year contract from Liberty.

Freeze owns a 49-28 record in six years of coaching. He posted a 10-3 record in his first season at Arkansas State before joining Ole Miss in 2012. He resigned from Ole Miss in 2017.

Liberty has a news conference scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday.
