Sept. 16 (UPI) — Netflix is teasing the new film Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew.
The streaming service shared an official logo and first on-set photo for the movie Wednesday.
The Magician’s Nephew hails from Oscar-nominated Barbie director and co-writer Greta Gerwig. The film is based on the fantasy novel The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis, a prequel to his Chronicles of Narnia book series.
The photo shows Gerwig overseeing production while on set with the cast and crew.

Cast members include David McKenna as Digory Kirke, Beatrice Campbell as Polly Plummer, Emma Mackey as Jadis, Carey Mulligan as Digory’s mother Mabel, and Daniel Craig as Digory’s uncle Andrew.
Ciaran Hinds, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith and Meryl Streep also have roles.
“I was a child when I first read The Magician’s Nephew, and I fell in love with the gorgeously improbable but completely brilliant concept of a cosmic lion singing the world of Narnia to life,” Gerwig told Netflix’s Tudum. “I didn’t know that I would grow up to make films, but a universe built out of music is an idea that always lived in my heart. It is the honor of a lifetime to be asked to imagine it into being.”
Narnia: The Magicians Nephew opens in IMAX theaters Feb. 10, 2027, and Feb. 12 in regular theaters. The movie starts streaming April 2 on Netflix.
