March 26 (UPI) — HBO Max has released its first teaser for the upcoming Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone series.
The 2-minute preview has gotten nearly 5 million views since it was shared on YouTube Wednesday.
The clip shows the new cast taking on the iconic roles from J.K. Rowling’s beloved fantasy novels, which were previously adapted as eight blockbuster films.
A sequel play is now playing on Broadway and in the West End, while full-cast edition recordings of the books were recently released by Audible.
Wednesday’s teaser shows Harry (Dominic McLaughlin) being bullied, abused and neglected, then meeting Hagrid (Nick Frost), who reveals the boy’s late parents were wizards.
Harry is also seen on the making friends with Ron (Alastair Stout) and Hermione (Arabella Stanton) on the train to his new school Hogwarts.
The cast will also include John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and Warwick Davis as Filius Flitwick.
