May 13 (UPI) — Colombian singer-songwriter Karol G will be honored at the American Music Awards in May.
Organizers announced in a press release Wednesday that Karol G, 35, will receive the International Artist Award of Excellence at the 52nd annual AMAs ceremony May 25.
Karol G, a Grammy-winning music artist known for the singles “Bichota,” “Mamiii” with Becky G and “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido,” will also perform.
The International Artist Award of Excellence honors “an artist whose music and cultural influence has resonated globally, inspiring and impacting audiences around the world.”
Previous recipients include Whitney Houston, Aerosmith, the Bee Gees, Beyoncé, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson and Rod Stewart.

The AMAs will also feature performances by Hootie & the Blowfish, Katseye, Keith Urban, Maluma, Riley Green, Sombr, Teyana Taylor and Twenty One Pilots.
Queen Latifah will host this year’s show, which airs May 25 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and will also stream on Paramount+.
Taylor Swift leads the nominees with eight nominations, followed by Olivia Dean and Sombr with seven nominations each.
