Jan. 29 (UPI) — A Maryland man collected a $50,000 prize from a scratch-off lottery ticket less than two years after winning $250,000 from another scratch-off game.

The Silver Spring man told Maryland Lottery officials he bought his $50,000 Cash ticket at the Sunoco gas station on Connecticut Avenue in Kensington and immediately scratched off the bar code to use the store’s scanner.

The man, a frequent lottery player, discovered he had scored a $50,000 top prize.

The player previously visited lottery headquarters in June 2024 to collect a $250,000 jackpot from a Cash Winfall scratch-off ticket.

The winner said his first prize went toward helping one of his daughters pay off her student loans and helping his other daughter buy a house.

The man said he doesn’t yet know what he will do with his latest prize, but “there’s always something.”
