Valletta (AFP) – The migrant rescue ship Lifeline, stranded in the Mediterranean for days carrying over 200 migrants, entered the Maltese port of Valletta Wednesday evening, AFP witnessed.

Once the ship has docked the migrants will be distributed among eight EU nations who have agreed to take them in, Maltese authorities said Wednesday, adding that the ship would then be impounded pending an investigation into its legal status and actions on the night of the rescue last Thursday.
