Oct. 16 (UPI) — The NFL will remove Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs from the commissioner exempt list Monday, the league announced Friday.
Jacobs was placed on the list Aug. 30. He will be eligible to play in the Packers’ Week 7 matchup with the Detroit Lions.
He was arrested in May on five initial charges — felony suffocation and strangulation and four misdemeanors. He was released a day later after the Brown County (Wis.) District Attorney’s Office found insufficient evidence to pursue criminal charges against him.
Jacobs pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property charges in September in Green Bay, Wis. His criminal damage to property count was suspended for 12 months and will be dismissed upon completion of the terms of a deferred judgement agreement.
The league still could decide to suspend Jacobs, who is being investigated for a potential violation of the personal conduct policy.
Jacobs, the 2022 NFL rushing champion, totaled 1,211 yards from scrimmage and 14 touchdowns over 15 appearances last season for the Packers. He totaled 1,671 yards from scrimmage and 16 scores over 17 appearances in 2024, his first season with the Packers.
The Packers (3-2), who ranked 15th in rushing last season, averaged a league-worst 60.4 rushing yards per game through their first five games this season.
They will host the Dallas Cowboys (2-3) at 8:20 p.m. EDT Sunday in Green Bay, Wis.
