Oct. 17 (UPI) — North Korea denounced the United States on Tuesday and claimed the U.S. military is deploying strategic assets to the peninsula because it is “being pushed into a corner” and deploying last-resort methods against a nuclear North.
Pyongyang’s state-controlled KCNA said Tuesday the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, the nuclear-powered submarine USS Michigan and the supersonic B1-B bomber were being sent near its shores in response to North Korea’s “rapid development of nuclear weapons.”
“Extensive strategic assets are gathering in waters surrounding of South Korea. This is a sign the United States, pushed into a corner, owing to our rapid nuclear power escalation, is engaging in combative actions.”
“Trump’s evil intention is to evade his own crisis of governance, both inside and outside [the United States], while at the same time intensifying tensions in order for concerned countries to place sanctions pressure on North Korea,” KCNA stated.
“The efforts of North Korea will not stop for a moment,” the news agency added.
North Korea’s denunciation of the United States comes at a time when the United States is promoting U.S. fighter jets in South Korea, Asia Business reported.
Pilots flew aircraft, including F-22 Raptors and the F-35A, south of Seoul on Tuesday, in a possible warning to the North, according to the report.
The USS Reagan was to take part in exercises with the South Korea Navy.
