Oct. 28 (UPI) — Netflix is teasing the new series Pride and Prejudice.
The streaming service shared a trailer for the show Wednesday featuring Emma Corrin (The Crown), Jack Lowden (Slow Horses) and Olivia Colman (Wicker).
Pride and Prejudice is a romantic drama based on the Jane Austen novel of the same name, which centers on the enemies-to-lovers romance between Elizabeth Bennet (Corrin) and Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy (Lowden).
Set in 19th-century England, the story also features Elizabeth’s sisters Jane (Freya Mavor), Mary (Hopey Parish), Kitty (Hollie Avery) and Lydia (Rhea Norwood), and their mother, Mrs. Bennet (Colman).
Other cast members include Rufus Sewell as Mr. Bennet, Daryl McCormack as Mr. Charles Bingley and Louis Partridge as Mr. George Wickham.
“Pride and Prejudice is such a timely story because of the emotions in the book; they are as pertinent now as they were in 1812,” series writer and executive producer Dolly Alderton told Netflix’s Tudum.
“Embarrassment of your family, fear that you’re going to get left behind, fear that the world is not going to be a safe place for your children as it was for you, mortification that you judged someone incorrectly or that you had been misjudged. We go to that book to see our hearts reflected in it.”
Pride & Prejudice premieres Dec. 3 on Netflix.
Austen’s book was previously adapted as a 1995 series starring Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth, and as a 2005 film starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.
