Oct. 27 (UPI) — Customs and Border Protection announced Tuesday that Saudi Arabia is now an official Global Entry partner of the United States.

“Travel should build bridges. By extending Global Entry eligibility to Saudi Arabian citizens, we’re making international travel more seamless for trusted travelers while strengthening cooperation between our two countries. This milestone reflects our shared vision for secure and efficient travel,” said Executive Assistant Commissioner Diane J. Sabatino of CBP’s Office of Field Operations, in a statement.

Global Entry allows pre-approved, low-risk travelers to have expedited clearance at customs. Saudi Arabian applicants will undergo rigorous vetting by both American and Saudi Arabian authorities, including an in-person interview.

There are 22 other countries in the Global Entry program, including: Australia, Brazil, Croatia, El Salvador, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates.
