Sept. 27 (UPI) — A Wisconsin jury found a man who led law enforcement officials on an 10-day manhunt earlier this year guilty on two felony firearms charges, leaving him open for a possible 20-year prison sentence.
The jury on Tuesday found Joseph Jakubowski guilty for breaking into a Janesville gun shop and stealing 18 guns and two silencers April 4. The 32-year-old then set his vehicle on fire and fled from police. He also mailed a 161-page anti-government manifesto to President Donald Trump.
Police caught him 10 days later in Vernon County.
Jakubowski testified he took the guns, but never revealed a motive for his actions.
“I thought he was going to make some kind of statement, why he’s doing it, and pronounce his manifesto,” jury foreman Richard Virnoche told WKOW-TV. “He didn’t say anything, so I don’t [know] why he got up there.”
Jakubowski is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 20 and faces up to 20 years in prison.
