BAGHDAD, May 17 (UPI) —

At least 40 people were killed and 56 were injured Friday in a bomb attack during a funeral at the Sariya Mosque in Baquba, Iraq, authorities said.

Citing a source it didn’t name, IraqiNews.com reported security forces blocked roads leading to the mosque in central Diyala province "to transport the dead bodies" and to take the injured to hospitals for treatment.

The source said the bomb had been placed near the mosque.

IraqiNews.com also reported a bomb exploded Friday in the al-Jamiaa section of Baghdad, near the house of Ahmed al-Msari, a member of the Iraqi Parliament.

Two people, including one of Msari’s guards, were injured in the blast.
