ESLOV, Sweden, Dec. 31 (UPI) —

A Swedish ice cream truck company said truck jingles in a southern city will be silenced, in response to complaints, and replaced with text messages.

Carl Gustaf Gudmundsson, president of Engelholm ice cream, said complaints about the loud jingles in an Eslov neighborhood led the company to come up with an alternative solution, TheLocal.se reported Tuesday.

"I’ve spoken with the business owner who drives the truck and he said they make it a bit louder in the winter in order to be heard properly because people are sitting inside," Gudmundsson told local newspaper Skanskan.

He said the new scheme will involve the truck traveling the streets silently and sending text messages to potential customers in the area.

"We will put a message in the letterbox to these households so that they can be notified via text message instead," Gudmundsson said.
