Feb. 18 (UPI) — Team USA hockey star Hilary Knight proposed to speed skater Brittany Bowe at the 2026 Winter Olympics, the couple announced Wednesday on social media.
Knight posted footage of herself going down on one knee and proposing to Bowe, who said yes, in Milan, Italy. The couple met at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
“Olympics brought us together,” Knight wrote on the social media post announcing the engagement. “This one made us forever.”
Bowe finished fourth in the women’s 1,000-meter final and team pursuit. She will make another medal attempt in Friday’s 1,500-meter final. The two-time Olympic bronze medalist holds the world record in the 1,000-meter distance and previously held the world record in the 1,500.
She is a six-time world champion.

Knight, a four-time Olympic medalist, totaled five points, from two goals and three assists, through Team USA’s first six games of the 2026 Winter Olympics. She is attempting to win her second Olympic gold medal at Milan-Cortina.
“I had always seen her as strong and competitive — the face of women’s hockey,” Bowe said of Knight during an interview with the Team USA website. “But when I was getting to know her, the first thing that caught my eye was how soft spoken she was, and the calming presence she had.”
Knight, 36, announced in May that Milan-Cortina will be her final Olympics. The five-time Olympian’s 14 goals are tied for the most in history for a Team USA player in the Olympics.
Bowe, 37, is also appearing in her final Olympics.
Knight and the Americans will take on Canada in the gold medal game at 1:10 p.m. EST Thursday in Milan. The matchup will air on USA Network. Bowe will compete in the 1,500-meter final at 10:30 a.m. Friday. That event will stream live on Peacock and air at 11 a.m. on USA Network.
