A homeowner in South Texas shot and killed two people who drove onto his property under the guise of wanting to ask about his roosters but then “flashed” their guns at him.

According to KTXS.com, the Hidalgo County Sheriff received a 911 call “about gunfire” on the night of October 27. When deputies arrived on scene they “found one man dead on a road and a second person deceased at a residence.”

The sheriff’s department said preliminary findings indicate the two deceased individuals drove to the home to ask about roosters, then went for their guns. At that point the homeowner “retrieved his own weapon” and shot the two individuals.

No charges were filed against the homeowner.

KTXS said the sheriff’s department “didn’t immediately provide additional information on the roosters.”
