Texans may just not be into abortion heroine Wendy Davis.

Davis, the Democrat state senator who is running for governor of Texas after she became a liberal darling when she filibustered to allow unborn babies to be aborted after 20 weeks, underperformed in the most recent fundraising cycle and significantly trails her opponent, Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott.

The Dallas Morning News had earlier reported that “word from inside the Davis camp is that her fundraising haul over the last six months will be north of $10 million.”

When Davis failed to clear that $10 million hurdle by only raising around $8.7 million, her campaign added about $3.5 million from the Texas Victory Committee to pad her numbers and claim that the campaign raised over $12 million. The Texas Victory Committee is described as a joint venture between Davis’s campaign and the Battleground Texas group that is trying to turn Texas “blue” with tons of outside money.

Meanwhile, Abbott raised $11.5 million on his own, about $3 million more than Davis did. Abbott also has $27 million cash on hand.

“This is a campaign by Texans, for Texans, and Greg Abbott is humbled and excited by the widespread support from across the state,” said Abbott’s campaign manager, Wayne Hamilton, in a statement. “Our campaign will continue to talk about and promote ideas to make Texas’ education system number one in the nation, continue to grow jobs, limit the size and scope of government, and preserve individual freedom.”
