On May 29 Marion, Illinois’ South Porte Bank announced it is allowing its tellers to carry firearms “in case of an intruder.”

The bank has “never been robbed and CEO and president Travis Clem wants to keep it that way.”

According to WSIL 3 ABC, once the concealed carry law passed in Illinois the bank decided tellers would have the option to carry. They have also put signs up to let would-be intruders know the employees are “packing.”

Clem cited robberies at local businesses in explaining why he wants his employees to be armed and ready instead of defenseless sitting ducks.

He added: “We’re not looking for a gun fight obviously, [but] we intend to defend ourselves if we need to.”
