A new Wall Street Journal/NBC poll shows that President Obama is suffering some of the worst approval numbers of his presidency.

Only 42 percent of Americans polled believe that Obama can, in fact, perform his job, while 54 percent say that he cannot. Two percent say that it “depends,” and two percent say that they are uncertain.

The poll comes out after a string of recent failures, including the Veterans Affairs scandal and the controversial decision to trade five Taliban detainees for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.

Obama has also received his lowest ratings in the history of the poll on foreign policy, as only 37 percent approve of his handling of the issues, and 57 percent disapprove.

Forty-one percent of Americans approve of Obama’s job performance, and 53 percent disapprove. That ties with the lowest approval rating ever for the President, which he received in the same poll in March.
