Three in five Americans believe the illegal immigrant children flooding across the U.S.-Mexico border “should be ordered to leave the U.S.” according to a recent poll.

An Investors Business Daily/TIPP poll, which was surveyed 879 Americans from June 24 to 29, found that 60% of Americans wanted the illegal immigrant kids sent back while 28% said the children “should be allowed to stay in the U.S. and eventually become citizens.” Another 10% were unsure.

The poll found that 64% of independents, 40% of Democrats, and 80% of Republicans want the illegal immigrant children sent back home.

There have been at least 57,000 illegal immigration children who have crossed the border since October of last year, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, and the Department of Homeland Security anticipates that at least 30,000 more will unlawfully enter the country before October of this year. Officials estimate at least 150,000 more will try to illegally enter the country next year.
