Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) dismissed news that conservative radio host Laura Ingraham had endorsed his primary opponent Joe Carr and planned to campaign on his behalf.

When asked by reporters about Ingraham’s endorsement on Capitol Hill this morning, Alexander reminded them that he was a conservative Senator who had been endorsed by the National Right to Life and had an ‘A’ rating with the National Rifle Association.

Alexander indicated that he was not concerned about whether he would suffer the same fate as House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor, who was defeated after Ingraham rallied supporters to his Republican challenger Dave Brat.

When asked about immigration, Alexander admitted that immigration was a “very important concern” and that it was up to President Obama and Congress to fix it.

He defended his vote for the Senate immigration reform legislation passed last year that critics have denounced as amnesty.

Alexander chuckled when asked to respond to accusations that he was ‘Liberal Lamar’ who frequently votes with President Obama.
