As wealthy families struggle for control of the United States Senate, Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has aligned himself with the Udall family.
Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.) has announced an event featuring Martin and “a discussion on New Mexico issues and politics” in support of his reelection campaign. His cousin, Sen. Mark Udall (D-CO), is currently facing a tough fight for his seat in Colorado.
The event will take place at Martin’s personal theater in Santa Fe on October 7.
Tickets start at $250 but an exclusive meet-and-greet with the star author will cost $1,000. Dinner with the author and the Senator costs $2,600, according to the Huffington Post.
For a five dollar donation, donors will be entered to win a pair of tickets to the event.
Martin has a history of anti-Republican sentiment accusing “Republicans and their Teabagger allies” in 2012 of voter suppression.
