ABC News says gun control proponent Gabby Giffords is campaigning so diligently for Representative Ron Barber (D-AZ-Dist. 2) that “you’d almost think she’s the one on the ballot.”

Giffords is not on the ballot, but her gun control views are. Barber supports the same gun control measures Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly have been pushing for 18 months. Moreover, Barber is endorsed by Gun Sense, which is funded by the Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund.

ABC News reports that Giffords has become increasingly involved in campaigning for Barber, even appearing in some campaign ads. She describes Barber as an “independent” who is not enslaved to “the special interests.”

Barber is pro-gun control, and Giffords knows she can count on him to support a gun control bill if it comes up for a vote in the House next year.

Barber’s challenger, Martha McSally (R-AZ-Dist. 2), believes enough gun control laws are on the books already. She says the problem is a lack of enforcement, not a lack of laws.
