Customs and Border Protection will be on hand at Super Bowl XLIX this Sunday to keep the big game between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks secure, employing equipment usually used on the U.S.-Mexico border.

“Customs and Border Protection has a huge role in the security of many special events. Including the Super Bowl. The support we provide the state and local law enforcement and our federal partners is one that is really, really important to the security of events such as this,” CBP Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske says in a new video discussing CBP’s participation.

According to a report in the Associated Press, the large x-ray machines and Black Hawk Helicopters CBP is using to help with the effort are from two of the busiest ports along the U.S.-Mexico border known for smuggling drugs and people — Tucson and Nogales.

Kerlikowske offered a demonstration of the equipment, according to the report, and assured that the border remains secure despite the machinery’s absence.

About 100 CBP officers will also be on hand to help with the security effort, according to the AP.

A CBP spokesman noted to Breitbart News that protecting events like the Super Bowl from terrorists and weapons is part of the mission of CBP.

The Super Bowl this year is in Glendale, Arizona.
