White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Harold W. Geisel, who served as acting State Department Inspector General during Hillary Clinton’s tenure as Secretary of State and donated to President Obama led an “active” and “functioning” Inspector General’s office that did its duty during Friday’s White House Press Briefing.

“There was a functioning and even active Inspector General operation in place at the State Department during the secretary’s — Secretary Clinton’s tenure there” Earnest stated.

He cited the “more than 400” IG reports issued during Clinton’s tenure as proof of an “active, functioning office of the Inspector General that was open, and doing its important work while Secretary Clinton was leading the department.”
