National Journal Senior Political Columnist and Editorial Director Ron Fournier said there is “a very obvious and big overlap between people who are donating to the [Clinton] Foundation and people who are dealing with the government” on Monday’s “Hardball” on MSNBC.
After host Chris Matthews stated that there is “no evidence” of a quid pro quo by the Clintons, Fournier responded, “is that the standard now? We have to prove bribery before it’s something that our officials shouldn’t do?…I think a start is to avoid any conflict of interest.”
He added, “we have all kinds of co-mingling of — money he’s making, and he’s getting it from people who are investing in a foundation, and who are getting benefits from the government. There is no evidence of a quid pro quo…but we have a very obvious and big overlap between people who are donating to the foundation and people who are dealing with the government.”
