After a report surfaced that House Speaker John Boehner called GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) a “jackass” at a fundraiser, Boehner’s primary challengers J.D. Winteregg is speaking out exclusively to Breitbart News about the name calling.

“Going after Ted Cruz is just reflective of how he’s led in the style Obama has led, which is basically take the people who disagree with you and attack them,” Winteregg told Breitbart News about Boehner. “Sadly, he’s not someone who’s fighting against the president, he’s someone who is fighting against good conservatives like Ted Cruz.”

“It’s disappointing to see it but you know, not unexpected,” Winteregg added.

He also pointed out that Boehner is seldom in his own district, and instead helps other Republicans in their states.
“He was in Colorado. I mean he doesn’t come back at all to talk to any of his constituents – no town halls, nothing.”

On the resolution brought forth by Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) to remove Boehner’s speakership, which could be brought forward once Congress returns from August recess, Winteregg said, “I don’t think [Boehner] should be in that position. Any way we can get him out is best for our country.”

Winteregg’s campaign recently hired Zachary Werrell, once a campaign advisor for Rep. Dave Brat (R-VA). Brat pulled a stunning upset when he ousted sitting Majority Leader Eric Cantor in a 2014 primary.

Winteregg’s official launch event is scheduled for next month.
