Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Obama clinked glasses at the United Nations lunch, a toast caught in a photograph of the event.

The pair clinked glasses after UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s toast during the United Nations Assembly luncheon. It is unclear exactly who initiated the toast between the two leaders, but Putin frequently makes aggressive moves for the cameras during world events.

In the photo captured by Getty Images photographer Chip Somodevilla, Putin is smiling while Obama is not.

The photo is likely to become vivid symbol of Putin and Obama’s new understanding on controversial topics like Syria.

During Obama’s speech to the United Nations, he signaled that would work with Russia to solve the crisis in Syria, even though Putin has declared support for Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad.
