Senate Minority Leader Sen. Harry Reid said Tuesday the country must “look forward, not backwards” on issues regarding ‘LBJs.’

During a news conference, Reid continued, “And I’m satisfied that we’ve made a lot of progress with issues relating to LBJ – lesbian, gay, anyway. What are the letters?” said Reid, who is expected to retire after the November 2016 election.

As CNSNews.com reports, Sen. Patty Murray then spoke to Reid who apparently didn’t hear her. “What is it?” he repeated.

“LGBT,” said Sen. Chuck Schumer, finally.

“Well, just what I was going to say,” Reid responded. “I – “

“We’ve made progress with LBJ also,” Schumer quipped.

“That play was terrific,” Reid congratulated Schumer. “But anyway, the point is this. We’ve made a lot of progress, but we need to look forward. And is there more progress we’re going to need? Of course there is. But I’m not going to re-argue what went on years ago. I think we should look at where we are now and how far we need to go in the future.”

When a reporter asked whether Reid would discuss his recent meeting with House Speaker Boehner, Reid started to reply, “No – I met with him – ” and then proceeded to end the news conference.

“Ask LBJ,” Schumer joked at the reporter.

“And BLT,” someone else chimed in.

“At the A & P,” another added.
