The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reports that Air France flight 65 from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) was diverted to Salt Lake City Tuesday evening after a bomb threat was received, KABC reports.

Air France flight 55 from Washington, D.C. (Dulles) to Paris was also diverted, landing in Nova Scotia, Canada, KABC adds.

Reuters reported a brief statement from the airline:

In a brief statement, Air France said both flights had been the “subjects of anonymous threats received after their respective take-offs.”

“As a precautionary measure and to conduct all necessary security checks, Air France, applying the safety regulations in force, decided to request the landings of both aircraft,” the airline said in its statement.

“Local authorities are carrying out complete inspections of the aircraft, their passengers and their luggage,” the statement said. “An investigation will be led by the authorities to identify the source of the telephone call.”

In addition, Reuters reported that both aircraft were searched by local authorities–in Canada’s case, by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. AF 65 is an Airbus A-380, and AF 55 is a Boeing 777.

Flightaware.com reported that AF 55 had resumed its journey, and reported a new itinerary for AF 65 from Salt Lake City to Paris, with takeoff after midnight Wednesday morning.
