Wednesday on Bloomberg Television’s “With All Due Respect,” co-host John Heilemann reacted to Fox News Channel host Shepard Smith’s criticism of Donald Trump a day earlier during his broadcast in which he stated Trump is “representing the worst, darkest part of all that is America.”

Heilemann referred to Smith and his FNC colleague Megyn Kelly, both of who have been critical of Trump throughout his presidential bid.

“If there’s one place that Trump’s plan for Muslims could be expected to find shelter, it is Fox News,” Heilemann said. “But rising above the lapdog layer of Doocys and Hannitys and the outnumbered crew, two News Corp rogues spoke up. Shep Smith, who took on Trump directly, and Megyn Kelly, who aimed at his media enablers.”

After playing Tuesday’s exchange between Smith and The Wall Street Journal’s John Bussey, Heilemann praised Smith for “speaking his heart.”

“Well, first of all, let me say this — I have always like Shep Smith, and I like him more today than I’ve ever liked him before,” Heilemann declared. “I think he’s really speaking his heart.”
