In a Sunday interview with New York AM 970’s “The Cats Roundtable,” Democratic National Committee chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) told host John Catsimatidis that the GOP is “willingly allowing the Tea Party extremists to take over their party.”

“This is an unprecedented political campaign for president, I’ve never seen anything like it. We have a race unfolding on the other side that has been complete and utter chaos. You know, the Republicans have been criticizing Donald Trump and some suggesting he hijacked their party,” Wasserman Schultz said. “Look, they made this bed. They’ve been willingly allowing the Tea Party extremists to take over their party, and so they have only themselves to blame with the likelihood of having a presumptive nominee like Donald Trump, who is the most extreme and vile, misogynistic candidate in modern times.”

She then added that the “chaos” expected at a potential brokered convention will result in the Democratic nominee winning the presidential race.

“Look, if the Republicans go to the convention in Cleveland and have the chaos that we’re expecting, you know the next week when we have a very clear and focused message that talks about how we want to help people reach the middle class, the contrast couldn’t be more clear and I think it will result in our nominee being elected president,” Wasserman Schultz predicted.
