The father of a two-month-old girl has been arrested after the child was discovered dead with at least two skull fractures, police report.

Last weekend, first responders were called to the home of Bloomington resident Robierre Mcneil, 33, who reported his infant daughter as unresponsive.

When paramedics arrived, the child did not respond to emergency treatment, was taken to a local hospital, and soon pronounced dead.

Police report that the child’s mother had given the baby a bottle at 7:45 a.m. Sunday before she left for work. The child was left in the care of Mcneil, her father. But by 4:45 p.m., the father claimed he found the child unresponsive and called for an ambulance.

Days later, after an autopsy revealed that the baby had at least two skull fractures, officials arrested Mcneil and charged him with the infant’s death.

On June 1, Mcneil was still insisting he had no idea how the child was injured and denies having any part in the death.

The suspect is being charged with two felony counts of aggravated battery and neglect of a dependent, resulting in death.

Mcneil is awaiting his first hearing in the Monroe County jail.

The suspect already has a violent record. He is listed on the Indiana sex offender registry for a 2011 conviction for molesting a child in 2009. He spent one year in prison on the 2009 charge and is also listed as homeless on the registry.
