President-elect Donald Trump is meeting with more potential cabinet members and experts as he outlines his presidential administration.
During the weekend, Trump traveled to his Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, to hold court with prominent Americans.
The press followed him, waiting outside to watch the comings and goings of government officials.
Snow began to fall as the temperature dipped below freezing and the wind reached 15 miles per hour with gusts up to 25 miles per hour.
Fox News reporter Doug McKelway reported on Sunday that Trump asked the press if they needed anything, as some of the local New York reporters shouted that they could use some coffee and hot chocolate.
“You need some chocolate? Do you? I’ll send some stuff. I’m not allowed to do that, but I will. We’ll send some stuff out. … We’ll take care of it. First time in my life I’m taking care of the press,” Trump said:
Trump did not disappoint, according to Fox News.
“Within five minutes, there was a whole spread of hot chocolate, coffee, and a lot of stuff to eat here,” McKelway reported.
Trump spoke briefly with reporters as he welcomed people like New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, BET founder Robert Johnson, investor Wilbur Ross, Blackstone Group LP’s Jon Gray, Peter Kasinow, retired General James “Mad Dog” Mattis, and General John Kelly into the club.
Trump’s interactions with the press began to thaw, as well.
Asked about Saturday Night Live, Trump said it was “not much of a show,” and as he was asked about a Hamilton boycott, he replied that it was “okay by me.”
When he welcomed Christie to the golf course, Trump told reporters that the New Jersey governor was “talented,” “smart,” and “tough.”
He confirmed that he would move to the White House when he became president, and his wife, Melania, and son Barron would join him “after he’s finished with school.”
When Ari Emanuel arrived, Trump told reporters that he was the “King of Hollywood.”
As the media huddled outside around space heaters on Sunday, Trump asked, “Not too cold out there I hope, right? If it is, come on in.”
