There is a fairly even split among voters on who they would rather see in the White House — President Obama or President-elect Donald Trump.

According to a new Morning Consult/POLITICO poll, voters slightly prefer Trump in office over Obama, 45 percent to 44 percent.

Two-thousand registered voters were questioned Dec. 28 and Dec. 29. The results have a plus or minus two percent margin of error.

Although Trump holds a one-point lead over Obama in terms of who voters would like to see in the White House, the poll results suggest voters tend to think Obama would have beat Trump in a head-to-head match up.

Forty-seven percent of the respondents thought Obama would defeat Trump, while 42 percent thought Trump would win.
