Chicago police say a home invasion suspect opened fire at home on the city’s Northwest Side and accidentally shot his accomplice in the head, killing him.

ABC 7 reports that the homicide occurred Tuesday night when the invasion suspects “encountered several family members at the front door” of the home they were allegedly targeting. One of the suspects began shooting at the porch of the home, striking his partner in the head.

The suspect who opened fire then fled the scene and the injured suspect was pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner identified the deceased suspect as 43-year-old Luis Antonio Morales.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the invasion suspect was one of six individuals shot in Chicago “between Tuesday and Wednesday morning.” The other shooting victims, each of whom survived their wounds, included a 24-year-old woman in West Town, a 21-year-old man on the Far North Side, and a 28-year-old woman in Bronzeville, and a 29-year-old man and 27-year-old woman in the Ukranian Village on the West Side.
