After reports of Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly’s meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles about their open head coaching job leaked, Notre Dame nose tackle Louis Nix tweeted, “Didnt (sic) see that coming!”

These reports brought uncertainty to the program and may threaten the school’s potential top recruiting class.

Recruiting analyst Tom Lemming of CBS Sports said Notre Dame was on track to potentially have this year’s top recruiting class, but some “recruits will get antsy if Kelly doesn’t announce his intention soon.”

“There will be kids looking at other schools now. I don’t see that happening unless Kelly’s telling them he’s not leaving,” Lemming said, noting that other schools have tried to snag Notre Dame’s recruits by playing up the uncertainty. Already, the Florida Gators snagged a Notre Dame recruit after Kelly’s interview with the Eagles.

According to reports, Kelly is believed to be out of the country and “signed a five-year contract three years ago at a reported $2.5 million a year and was given a two-year extension a year ago.” Reports have indicated Notre Dame plans to talk to Kelly about a new contract extension.
