Kansas guard Ben McLemore scored 30 points on his 20th birthday to help Kansas end the program’s first three-game losing streak in nearly eight years as Kansas beat Kansas State 83-62 on Monday night at Phog Allen Fieldhouse in Kansas.

A double-digit win at home is as impressive as a win on the road, and Kansas has won all six homes games during the 11-1 stretch against Kansas  McLemore added seven rebounds and three steals. 

Jeff Withey, who had just dropped out of the Top 25 Value Add rankings, added 17 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots for the Jayhawks. Kansas State’s only lead was 2-0, and McLemore hit a layup just 68 seconds into the game on his birthday, and the Jayhawks never looked back, as they moved into first place ahead of Kansas State by virtue of winning both head-to-head contests.
