Dwight Howard, supposedly the best center in the NBA, indicated he would like to play for the USA Olympic basketball team in the 2016 Olympics.

As the star-studded Lakers try to reach .500 Sunday at home against the Atlanta Hawks to salvage what was one of the most disappointing first halves of a season in NBA history, Howard, when asked, said he would like to play in the 2016 Olympics after missing the 2012 Olympics with a back injury.

On Thursday, Howard complained about not making a playoff run last season and said he was “pissed off” that he was not able to participate in a 2012 playoff or Olympic run.

In four years, there may be younger centers that may be better suited for the Olympic team than Howard, but Howard said that was not his primary concern as of now.

“My only concern right now is winning a championship with the Lakers and how we can get better,” Howard said. “I can’t control what happens in the Olympics.”
