The Louisville Cardinals are not only the top overall seed in the NCAA men’s college basketball tournament, they are also college basketball’s most valuable team. 

According to a Forbes report, Louisville’s basketball program is worth an estimated $38.5 million.

As for annual profits, a 2011 study by Breitbart Sports Editor John Pudner showed that Louisville was not only the most profitable basketball program ($14,727,889), but more profitable than all but 18 football programs.

Here are the five most valuable college basketball franchises for 2013 according to Forbes:

1. Louisville – $38.5 million 

2 Kansas –  $32.9 million

3. North Carolina – $32.8 million

4. Kentucky – $32.1 million

5. Ohio State – $23.1 million.
