Dunk City West: USC Hires FGCU's Enfield

Dunk City is heading to Hollywood.

USC hired Florida Gulf Coast’s Andy Enfield on Monday, signing him to a six-year deal that will pay him more than $1 million a year. 

Pat Haden, USC’s athletic director, said “those in the basketball world have known of his abilities for a while.”

Enfield said he was looking forward to bringing his style of play to USC.

Enfield led the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles, a No. 15 seed, to the Sweet 16. It was the first time a No. 15 seed has ever made it to the Sweet 16.

The high-flying Eagles electrified the college basketball world by playing with joy while throwing down monster slam dunks and alley-oops that earned them the “Dunk City” nickname. 

Enfiled and his wife Amanda, a former model, seem like a good fit in Los Angeles and at USC, where Enfield will be under less pressure to win than UCLA’s recent hire Steve Alford.
